Little Elm, Texas is a town that is located north of The Colony, Texas and has 23 miles of shoreline along Lake Lewisville. Although growing at a rapid pace, Little Elm has managed to maintain its small town charm.  Little Elm has experienced a population growth rate of 466% from the year 2000, when there were 3,646 residents, to today, where there are over 19,925 residents.  In the year 2005, a record 1,000 new homes were built in Little Elm and new home builds are on pace to break that record in 2006. Retail chains such as Lowe’s and CVS are coming to Little Elm because they recognize the opportunity. The growth of Little Elm has caused traffic problems because there are only two main roads to get into town.  Current traffic projects to widen the two roads are under way and a bridge crossing Lake Lewisville connecting Little Elm to I35 should be complete in 2009.

Little Elm prides itself on being a lakeside community.  There are an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy and the town council is dedicating millions of dollars to renovate and improve the already beautiful park areas.  A biking-hiking trail will be built along the lake to connect all parts of Little Elm and a new four-plex baseball facility, adjacent to Cottonwood Creek Marina, is under construction. One of the unique qualities of Little Elm is that, no matter what neighborhood you’re in, you will have a beautiful view of Lake Lewisville. That, along with low costs for new housing, has made Little Elm not only one of the fastest growing towns in Texas, but also the United States.
