Lewisville, Texas is a city in Denton County and is located in the northern part of the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex.  In the 1840’s, the land around which the town was formed was purchased by Basdeal Lewis, who named the town after himself.  Like many of the towns in this area in the early 20^th century, life revolved around agriculture-related industries and the railroads. With the completion of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in 1974, which is located just south of Lewisville, the area began to boom.  The city still manages to retain its rural town atmosphere despite seeing strong population growth over the last 30 years.  The city itself is now home to just under 90,000 people and over 3,600 businesses. 

Some of the main features of Lewisville are the 30,000 acre Lake Lewisville which lies along the city’s northern boundary and Grapevine Lake which is in the southern part of the city.  Lake Lewisville is home to Lake Park which is a 660 acre facility featuring numerous outdoor activities including camping, fishing, hiking, softball fields, golf, and much more.  Lewisville capitalizes on its historic heritage and features community activities year round including many festivals, concerts and theater productions.  Abundant employment opportunities, diversity of housing, and a rural community flavor should keep the growth of Lewisville strong for years to come.
