As far back as the late 19th century Carrollton, Texas was known as a center of thriving business and industry. In the 1850’s,
Trinity Mills, which now has a main street named after it, was a place that people came to from miles away to have their corn and
wheat refined. The town of Carrollton was officially established in 1878, when its first U.S. Post Office opened. In 1904,
the Carrollton Pressed Brick Company came into existence and there are structures today that are still made from bricks produced at
that plant. In 1913, commercial electricity came to Carrollton when a private power plant was built.
Carrollton was named
in America’s Top 100 Places to for 2006 by Relocate America and was ranked 19th by Money Magazine as the nations “Best Small Cities”
to live in. Even though most of Carrollton’s land is developed, it remains a favorite place of business for national and international
corporations alike. This had to do with its central location within the Dallas Metroplex and the United States. Carrollton is
located 10 miles east of the DFW International Airport, 10 miles north of Dallas Love Field, and Addison Airport, a full service commercial
and private facility, is just a few miles to the south. Home to almost 120,000 people and over 5,000 businesses, Carrollton is
noted for creating the highest number of new jobs in the region. Carrollton also features over 1,200 acres of park area and
is home to several award-winning sports complexes and lifestyle amenities.
